[Pilouette is still a little nervous about making announcements like these. While she's gained a little confidence as of late, she can't help but feel a little bit anxious. With a deep breath, turns on the audio function, and starts her announcement.]

H-Hi, everyone! Pilouette here! Um, I hope all you New Feathers are settling in okay! I know it can be tough, but...um...it gets a little easier after a while!

[She can't help but cringe inwardly as she says that. Being in Luceti may be easier after a while, but she's still not sure if getting used to being here is a good thing or not.]

And like, speaking of! I just wanted to tell everyone about the upcoming New Feather Party! This time, it's going to be a beach party! It'll be at 1:00 PM on the 18th at...um, at the beach. [She did already say it was a beach party...she frowns briefly, making a note to try scripting out her announcement next time.]

It'll be lots of fun and there will be a lot of food and stuff, too! But um...also...if anyone wants to make a dish to share with everyone then go ahead and bring something! Like a potluck, you know? I really hope I'll see you all then!

[ACTION]
[During the day Pilouette will be poking around the item shop, looking for beach-y summer-type things; beach balls, squirt guns, water balloons, beach chairs and the like. She'll also be putting up a few small posters about the party around the village in case anyone missed the announcement.

Later on, she'll be in the library (which she eventually decided probably wasn't a haunted death trap as she previously thought) looking for cookbooks and scribbling down notes and recipes.]

A welcome back party for me, Pilouette-chan? Ahhh, will there be lots of bamboo? If there isn't, it won't be a good party at all.

[For just a moment, Pilouette had forgotten about him. SIGH.]

It's for like, all the New Feathers, not just you. If you want bamboo so much, why don't you bring it yourself? You're probably going to be the only one eating it, anyway.

No, no, it'll taste better if someone brings it for me, okay? I'll bring something else...! What do you like to eat?

[And while he may be insufferable, he does like to party...he's asking nicely...!]

[She's kind of...no, scratch that, incredibly surprised that he's even asking her what she wants. Is he actually being considerate? She thinks for a second before answering, though she's still a tiny bit wary.]

Uh...cake. I like cake.

[Okay, that's...a little difficult for a panda to make! But he can always pick up cheap snack cakes at the grocery store...or try the bakery.]

Is that all? That's easy! You want it to be a panda cake, right?

[She should have seen that coming. Still, he's being less annoying than usual, so she figures she should try to be polite in return.]

N-No, a regular cake is fine, thank you. ...I guess if you're bringing a cake, I'll try to bring some bamboo for you, okay?

Ehh...maybe I'll bring a panda cake and a normal cake. People really like panda cakes more, you know.

[SIGH.]

Well, if you're going to bring both don't work really hard on the panda cake and then get lazy with the other one, okay? These will be for everyone to share, you know.

Pilouette-chan, Pilouette-chan...! How did you know that was my plan?

WHAT?! A-Are you serious?! That's really what you were going to do?!

[SUPERSIIIIIIIGH. She shouldn't be surprised.]

If you're only going to put effort into your dumb panda cake, then don't bother with the other one. Being lazy with baking is just wrong! Besides, it's like, totally rude to expect people to eat something you didn't put any real work into, you know!

[Especially since he's the one who asked her what she liked...]

When it really comes down to it, cake is still cake, right? One would just look cuter than the other.

[He has a point there. He really does. It's not like panda cake is made out of pandas...!]

C-Cake isn't just cake! All cakes are different! That's like saying strawberry shortcake from a fancy bakery and a piece of regular old grocery store cake are the same thing!

[Actually, she'll eat it either way, but...cake is a serious thing for her.]

...I guess maybe the little kids might like a cute bear-shaped cake. [It really would be cute.] You have to really work on it, though, okay? Like, no slacking!

[Pilouette...he's going to the bakery for a cake, he's not baking one on his own...]

Hmm...I've never really thought about it like that before. There's lots of cake at the cake buffet, but I usually just think of them as cake.

[Chin up, and:] Alright! I'll bring two cakes! A panda cake and a surprise cake!

Cake buffet...?

[She's momentarily distracted because a buffet of cakes sounds amazing. But she can ponder cake buffets later, there are more pressing matters right now! She's surprised and kind of pleased that he's being a little more...agreeable than she's used to.]

A surprise cake, huh? Well...okay, as long as it's not anything weird, like a bamboo cake or something.

Mm-mm, I know exactly what kind of cake to make.

[But he's not going to tell.]

It'll be ready in time, I promise...!

Okay. Just try not to fall asleep and forget. ...A-And if you think you need help making it, you should ask me, okay?

[She's not sure she trusts him to not start a fire or something.]

Don't worry, don't worry...! I'm not going to need any help.

[From her, anyways. HEH. HEH. HEH.]

You just make sure the bamboo is extra fresh, alright?

Sure, sure...

[Not that she can tell how fresh bamboo is.]

I'm like, kind of surprised you want in on this. Won't it be really hot with all that fur you have...?

It'll be really bad for me, but I can't say no to a party thrown in my honor, can I?

I already told you it's not for you! It's for all the New Feathers! I'm starting to wonder if you only hear what you want to...!

Pilouette-chan, Pilouette-chan...! That's exactly what I'm hearing.

W-wait, does that mean you do only hear what you want or that you actually want to hear everything...?

[She chuckles, a little sheepishly. She doesn't want to brag, but...]

Y-Yeah! I wasn't sure everyone had fun last time, but...well, I guess people liked it enough! I really hope everyone has fun this time, too...A beach party is good for summer, right?

Oh yeah, it totally feels more summery! I mean, it's harder to bring stuff, but if you've got a beach, s'not like you gotta bring a lot. I'm looking forward to it already.

Even though there's a been a beach so close all this time, I think I've only been once or twice...So I'm looking forward to it, too!

And even if I don't need to bring a lot, I'm gonna try to get a lot of fun stuff, Like, water balloons! Or maybe a beach ball or something! People like stuff like that, right?!

I dunno why they wouldn't! After all, it's the beach, so you've gotta do some good stuff to do at the beach. [...] Oh, maybe even some shovels and pales and stuff, for sand castles.

Ooooh! That's a great idea! Sand castles are a ton of fun! Plus is everyone is making sand castles, I won't have to worry about decorating anything because everyone will be making decorations of their own! Heehee...!

Oh! And water guns would be great, too! Those are the best! I'm definitely going to have to do get to the item shop later. Oooh, I'll have to get some coolers for the drinks and the food...

-Coolers get pretty heavy. I could help you get those over.

Oh! That would be great! I hope it's not too much trouble, though!

[She feels just the tiniest bit bad. Rin always seems to be helping her with stuff and she still hasn't found anything to do for him in return...]

Hmm...Oh! Are there any kinds of food you like? I want to make sure there's lots of stuff so that everyone has something they like!

[Of course it's not a problem, or he might not have offered. At that though, he pauses to consider. thinking about it a moment, he comes up with:]

If it's the beach, there's gotta be popsicles, right?

Oh! Oh, yeah! I wonder if I should get them from the store or make them myself...Maybe if we get enough ice and coolers we could even do ice cream, too! If we bury it in ice, it should be okay, right?!

Yeah, probably! I mean, it's been kinda hot, but a cooler's a cooler, the job it's supposed to do is prevent stuff from melting, after all.

Right! I'll have to find a couple different flavors. It can't be all junk food, though. Maybe some fruit or something, too. And I guess whatever food is left people can just...take home or something!

Watermelon. It's a beach, so there's gotta be watermelon splitting too.

Oh! Oh, yeah! Someone else was mentioning that! I've never done it before, but he made it sound really fun...

It might just be a Japan thing... but yeah, it's really fun!

[ After hearing Pilouette's announcement over the journals it's really no surprise that he's found the young woman in the library's cooking section. He'll come over with a smile as he pulls out a book and flips through it. ]

Looking for recipes for the new feather party I take it? Would you like some help?

[She suddenly sits up straight and looks up, a little surprised as being so suddenly spoken to. When she sees who it is, she smiles and nods.]

Well...some of the recipes are for the party. Some help would be really great, though! It's harder than I thought...

Like, it's kind of hard to find stuff that won't get all yucky and gross in the heat. I thought about looking for coolers in the item shop, but...I'd need to get so many of them.

Oh! I'm sorry if I startled you. [ Because what is that reaction Pilouette. Helios will smile as he nods and looks through the various books. ] Caribbean food might be a good choice. It's very...in tune to the whole theme of things. But I'd me more than happy to help with keeping food cold or warm. Magic can help with that at least. I'll just put a few sigils in some coolers and bags and we can just carry the food to the beach that way. Or, ah, set up a teleportation sigil to get things there faster.

Ooooh, I didn't even think of a themed food...that's such a great idea! I've never even eaten Caribbean food before, though. I hope I can pull that off...

[She scribbles down a quick note about it for later reference. At the mention of magic, Pilouette can't help but be a little amazed. She doesn't even know what sigils are, but they sound cool.]

Th-That would be great, Mr. Sprensonne! It's still kind of amazing that magic is used for such like...ordinary stuff. [It's never like that in the movies.] Um, are you sure it's not too much trouble, though?

There's some very good cuisine from Hawaii and Jamaica and even the Bahamas that people might enjoy. I could perhaps make some fish dishes or-or even some paella. That's always a big hit when it comes to parties, easy to make in large amount too.

[ Perhaps that will be a thing then. And Helios will chuckle and laugh, holding up a hand as he shakes his head. ] Nonsense it's never too much trouble! I do love my magic and food after all. The two together is just fantastic!

That would all be so great~! Thank you so much!!

[Oh, wait, dang, this is the library. She covers her mouth for a second before lowering her voice.]

I...I mean, th-thank you so much...! I feel like everyone else is doing all the hard work, though. I'm more used to asking other people what they need me do...

[ Helios waves her off with a compassionate and kind smile. ]

It's certainly no trouble at all Pilouette. I'm more than happy to help you after all. But you are the one hosting it so it's a big responsibility, there's no harm in asking for a bit of help.

W-Well, it's more like the Welcome Center is hosting it kind of...I'm just making plans. A lot of people from the Welcome Center are helping out, but the more help I get the better. With lots of people helping out, we can all make sure everyone has fun! I mean, I'm still figuring stuff out, but I'm actually starting to feel pretty okay about this whole thing...!

I'm really glad you decided to go with a beach party. Kairi and I talked about having one a long time ago, but then a lot of things happened and we never got the chance to do it. I'm sure this'll be a lot of fun!

I'm sure it will, too! After all, this is the kind of thing Summer is for, right?! I'm pretty excited about it myself. The last time I was at the beach...

[During a particularly awkward shift...]

...Well, I didn't really get a chance to run around or enjoy it or anything! I might even get to splash around in the ocean a little...!

Right!

What about setting up some beach volleyball or something too? We did that for a Brave Vesperia outing once and everyone really enjoyed it.

Oh! That's a great idea! I bet some other sports-type stuff would be good, too! Like...like a soccer ball or something. Ooooh, maybe I can find some badminton stuff...!

[Suddenly, a thought pops into her head.]

Hey, maybe, I should ask if there are sports from other worlds that might be fun...

You could always have some water balloons or squirt guns or something too, especially if it's hot out. Or maybe even a few watermelons for people to split!

[This sounds like it's going to be awesome!]

Those are great ideas! Everyone loves water balloons and stuff! ...But...wouldn't it be easier to just cut the watermelon's beforehand instead of splitting them at the beach? I mean, we'll have coolers and stuff so they won't get all yucky...

[Clearly not familiar with this particular tradition.]

Huh? But splitting them is part of the whole game. You don't do it in your world?

[He always just assumed it was what you did with watermelons.]

I don't think so. I've never seen it anyway.

[Maybe people have been doing that forever and she just never knew! ...Maybe people have been splitting watermelons without her!]

It's really a game, though? How do you split it if you're not cutting it open?

That's easy-- you put it down on the ground, and then everyone takes turns being blindfolded and trying to hit it with a stick. The first person to hit it hard enough to make a crack in it wins. It's kind of like a pinata, just with a watermelon instead.

And then you cut it up and eat it afterward.

[She's nodding as he speaks, taking in the idea.]

Yeah...Yeah, that does sound kinda fun! Okay! I'll do what I can to set something like that up, too! I bet even people who haven't heard of it would have a lot of fun with it!

Great! Thanks, Pilouette. I think people would really enjoy it too, and besides, when someone wins, everyone gets something to eat. So it's great even for the people who don't end up winning.
